Reykjavik Street Art

On our first night in Reykjavik, we came across some Banksy-esque street art on our way to dinner. We didn't think much of it, but we stopped to check it out and then continued on our way.  Little did we know, we would find many more of these little gems tucked away in alleyways throughout the city.

Reykjavik and the Nordic culture in general doesn't usually strike me as super lively or colorful. Plus the city itself can appear a little drab at first glance, especially since it's often cloudy and gray. But the never-ending nightlife in Reykjavik (what else can they do when it's dark all day in the winter??), as well as the countless displays of vibrant street art and graffiti that we would come across, proved me wrong.

Somewhere over the rainbow...

Not sure who would deface this, but some people suck I guess.

We came across this section of stunners not far from our hotel.

Ganesha

Lion

Flamingo

Some of the art seemed to mean something, some was just weird.

"It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see."

Smoking kills.

Three little birds.

We became obsessed with finding these murals everywhere, and kept our eyes peeled when exploring Reykjavik so we wouldn't overlook the genius work!

A fly on the wall.
