There is so much to do on the North Island, and we wanted to do it all! But with only 10 days left in New Zealand, we didn't have time to do everything. So we crammed as many awesome activities into the end of our trip as we could.
The Tongariro Alpine Crossing is a stunning hike that leads trekkers up steep volcanic terrain, into and out of a series of craters, past sparkling blue and emerald lakes, and back down the opposite side of the volcano. One of the best-known day hikes in the world, it is a truly amazing hike.
The Tongariro River in Turangi is a world renowned spot for fly fishing, so we hired a guide to take us out for the day. It ended up being an incredible day that left us sore, sunburnt, and with a sense of accomplishment.
We've found a few spots across the world where we've really been able to kick back and think "this is the life." And maybe no place better than Marlborough, New Zealand.
If there is a place in New Zealand that has it all, it might be Abel Tasman National Park
The continuation of our road trip through New Zealand. This post follows us along the West Coast of the South Island - through Haast Pass, Jackson Bay, Franz Josef and Punakaiki.
Most travelers to New Zealand's South Island choose to either visit the center of the island to see Mount Cook OR they travel to the West Coast to see the glaciers. It just doesn't make sense to do both with limited time given the lack of road options connecting the two areas. But all we have is time.
We spent the last week of 2014 in Queenstown, often touted as the Adventure Capital of the World, with endless things to do in the area.
Our experience on the Routeburn Track, one of New Zealand's Great Walks. We cut a few corners, but we still managed to see what we think are the best parts of the track.
Ahhh Waiheke Island - our final stop in New Zealand and our final international stop on our unbelievable trip around the world.
