Welcome to the Jungle

We spent a few days relaxing in the Thai jungle of Khao Sok National Park after our overnight trip to Cheow Lan Lake.  Aside from getting a lot of Thai massages at our treehouse resort and eating delicious Thai food, we went tubing and Tarzan swinging on the Khao Sok River and rode an elephant!  Check out this short post with a few photos from our jungle adventures below.

On our way to beautiful Khao Sok National Park.

Our jungle cat who stood guard on our porch...

...to protect us from these mischievous monkeys!  Our house was completely exposed to wildlife, including a (practically) roofless bathroom, in which we found numerous frogs and other creatures on our ceiling or hiding under our towels!

Tubing in the refreshing Khao Sok River.

Stephen's tube got hijacked by a local village boy who hitched a ride down the river.  Our guides didn't seem concerned.

As you can see, our guides are relaxing while Stephen is being carried away down the river by the renegade village boy.

How emasculating.  Stephen lost his tube to an 11-year-old.

Everyone took turns swinging on a rope over the river, pretending to be Tarzan.

My first time in the back of a pickup truck...and hopefully not the last?

The ride of a lifetime.  Lukmi, our transportation for an hour, was a gentle giant.

I got to ride bareback while Stephen sat in the kiddie chair.  Riding an elephant up and (especially) down hills with nothing to hold on to is actually really challenging and scary!

My prerogative.

Lukmi stopped whenever he felt like it to break whole branches off of trees and chow down.

Mud.

Feeding Lukmi lemongrass after a fun ride together!  He was so happy for the treats.

Lukmi love.

Lukmi getting a much needed bath after a muddy trek.

Hosing down.
