Paris For a Day

Sometimes we forget that we are living our dream.  We get tripped up by our heavy backpacks, curse slow African Wi-Fi, and long for New York pizza.  But then there are times when we are sitting in a Parisian park on a Thursday afternoon, feeling the sunshine on our faces, and enjoying a simple fresh baguette with ham, cheese and butter.  That's when we remember.

When checking out flights from Zanzibar to Iceland, we saw that we could only connect in a few European cities, Paris being one of them.  Paris holds a special place in both of our hearts, and even though we would only be here for one day, the thought made us smile.

We spent the day walking the streets, because in Paris, that is the best way to take it in.  On this trip, we confined ourselves to the right bank, or north of the Seine, to rediscover some of our favorite places.  And while we weren't walking, we were of course stuffing our faces (especially at the classic Le Bistrot Paul Bert).  Check out our photos below.

Old school Patisserie Stohrer, one of my favorite places for pastries and fresh sandwiches in Paris. 51 Rue Montorgueil.

Beautiful fresh figs lining rue Montorgueil on the right bank.

Peaches for days on rue Montorgueil.

The Louvre.

Stunning Paris, just stunning.

I could drive past these buildings everyday and it will never get old!

Beef carpaccio, Le Bistrot Paul Bert.

We always come across other cool travelers on our trip, and Logan, a 9-year-old from San Francisco, and his mom Kristie, were no exception.  And one thing that is true no matter where we are is that kids LOVE Stephen.

Steak au poivre and frites - what more can a girl ask for?!

How about all you can eat cheese?  They bring the entire board to your table and you can take as much cheese as you want!

Au revoir Paris!
